The town of Turgovishte is situated 339 kilometres to the north-east of the city of Sofia, 41 kilometres to the west of the town of Shumen and 100 kilometres to the north-east of the city of Veliko Turnovo. The closeness of the town to the exit points of the country – the town of Varna and the town of Russe make a natural crossroad of strategic importance. The town of Turgovishte is an administrative centre of a county and the seat of the provincial administration in the North-Eastern Bulgaria. Some 8 kilometres away from the town of Turgovishte there are curative mineral springs, which presupposes the development of balneological tourism. On the territory of the county of Turgovishte the villages of Popovo, Yastrebino, Omurtag and Antonovo are found. These are wonderful Bulgarian villages, attracting a great number of tourists, due to the enticing scenery and the architecture of the old houses.
